Wisconsin teen, a 17-year-old is accused not only of murdering his own parents, but of plotting to assassinate President Donald Trump and launch a violent uprising against the United States government.
Federal authorities say Nikita Casap, a high school student from Waukesha, was arrested in March and charged with two counts of first-degree intentional homicide and two counts of hiding a corpse.
Prosecutors allege Casap gunned down his mother, Tatiana Casap, 35, and his stepfather, Donald Mayer, 51, in their home before concealing their bodies under piles of blankets and clothing for several weeks.
Court documents paint a chilling portrait of a teen radicalized by extremist ideologies. According to an affidavit reviewed by federal agents, Casap had been planning a large-scale act of domestic terrorism.
The motive behind the killings, officials allege, was to secure the money and independence he believed necessary to execute his broader plan: assassinate President Trump and overthrow the federal government in the name of a white supremacist revolution.
Casap will be arraigned on May 7.
