Watch: Over 100 Vehicles Take Over NJ Streets — Fireworks Fired at Police – EVOL

Police in Secaucus, New Jersey, faced a chaotic scene over Labor Day weekend when a mob of drivers and onlookers launched fireworks at patrol cars during a massive late-night street takeover.

The Incident

At around 2 a.m. Sunday, officers responded to reports of over 100 vehicles driving recklessly, with cars spinning donuts at the intersection of Secaucus Road and County Avenue.

When police arrived, more than 50 individuals surrounded law enforcement vehicles, with some climbing onto the hoods and roofs.

The confrontation escalated as individuals shot fireworks at and under police cruisers, turning them into “incendiary devices,” according to officials.

Police Response

No officers were reported injured, but the cruisers sustained damage. Backup units from nearby towns were called in to help disperse the unruly crowd.

Secaucus Police Chief Dennis Miller praised his officers for showing restraint during the confrontation but condemned the violence.
