In the wake of yet another assassination attempt targeting former President Donald Trump just over 60 days after a bullet missed his head by millimeters on July 13, Secret Service veteran and top-rated political commentator Dan Bongino raised the possibility of a “mole” working with the Secret Service or Department of Homeland Security.
On Sunday, 58-year-old Ryan Wesley Routh was engaged by Secret Service agents after aiming a scoped rifle through the fence outside of one of former President Trump’s golf courses in West Palm Beach. Routh was located roughly 300 yards from the former president — whose golf match was not listed on his public schedule — when he was spotted.
He was later apprehended after a an eyewitness identified both the suspect and his black Nissan. It has since been revealed that Routh traveled to Ukraine in 2022 and was working to recruit foreign fighters from Afghanistan, Pakistan and other nations for service in the Ukrainian Army. His social media profiles were also littered with anti-Trump rhetoric, and he donated to the Biden-Harris campaign in 2020.
