While ABC News debate moderators David Muir and Linsey Davis frequently interrupted former President Donald Trump with “fact checks” that were oftentimes untrue, they allowed Vice President Kamala Harris to get away with multiple lies on January 6, the 2017 Charlottesville incident and her past positions.
On the topic of January 6, Harris ignored the fact that Trump told protesters to remain peaceful and falsely claimed that Capitol Police officers were killed that day. While Ashli Babbitt was shot and killed by a Capitol Police officer who failed to give a verbal warning, and three additional Trump supporters died, not a single police officer was killed.
Despite this, Harris repeated the blatant lie without a “fact check” from Muir and Davis.
Harris was also allowed to freely lie about her past positions, including an endorsement of healthcare for illegal aliens, decriminalization of illegal border crossings and a ban on fracking. Despite explicitly stating that she would ban fracking during a CNN-hosted town hall event in 2019, Harris told the country that she never supported a ban.
Once again, Muir and Davis opted not to “fact check” the blatantly false claim.
