A Washington D.C. public charter school teacher has been arrested by the FBI and charged with horrific crimes against children.
56-year-old Devonne Keith Brown was a former health teacher at IDEA Public Charter School in D.C.
He has now been arrested and charged with federal child pornography offenses, marking another disturbing chapter in what many see as a broader institutional failure to protect minors.
Brown was taken into custody by the FBI after an investigation revealed he allegedly solicited child sexual abuse materials (CSAM) from a young girl in Prince George’s County, Maryland.
According to federal prosecutors, Brown didn’t just view illicit materials — he actively encouraged and facilitated the production of them.
Investigators found that Brown was paying a vulnerable child to produce sexually explicit material for him.
He was allegedly contacting the minor under a false name, paying her through CashApp, and requesting she pose nude to mimic sexual explicit images he sent her.
In one example cited in court filings, the minor requested $15 from Brown with the message, “for snacks? more photos otw.”
The FBI’s Washington Field Office described the case in blunt moral terms.
