At least 11 people were stabbed during a violent attack inside a Walmart Supercenter in Traverse City, Michigan on Saturday. The incident unfolded just after 5 p.m. at the store on Crossing Circle.
Police confirmed a suspect was taken into custody. A motive has not yet been released.
Chaos Inside the Store
Witnesses say panic erupted when the attacker pulled a knife near the pharmacy counter. Shoppers, including many elderly victims, ran for their lives as the suspect began stabbing people at random.
At least three victims required emergency surgery. First responders were seen applying tourniquets at the scene.
Law Enforcement Response
Local and federal authorities responded quickly. FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino said his team was assisting the Grand Traverse County Sheriff’s Office.
Michigan State Police released a statement confirming the stabbing and noting that “details are limited at this time.” Authorities confirmed the suspect is no longer a threat and there is no danger to the public.
