Former Speaker of Ukraine’s Parliament, Andriy Parubiy, was shot dead in broad daylight on Saturday in Lviv by a gunman disguised as a delivery courier.
The 54-year-old lawmaker, a strong ally of President Volodymyr Zelensky, was gunned down around noon in the Sykhovsky district. Witnesses said the killer fled the scene on an electric bicycle.
The assassin, reportedly posing as a Glovo delivery worker, wore black clothing and carried a yellow courier bag. Security footage shows him trailing Parubiy before opening fire. Parubiy was struck multiple times and died at the scene.
Police said a “public and political figure born in 1971” had been killed before confirming Parubiy’s identity. A murder investigation has been launched by local authorities and Ukraine’s Security Service (SBU).
