A contributor from Fox News has stated that Donald Trump has the legal right to take legal action against New York Attorney General Letitia James for allegedly violating the civil rights of the former president. Political analyst Deroy Murdock, who frequently appears on the conservative news channel, made this assertion in response to a New York appeals court decision to delay Trump’s payment of a $454 million civil fraud penalty resulting from James’ lawsuit. Instead, Trump was directed to pay a $175 million bond within ten days while he pursued an appeal with the court.

In February, Judge Arthur Engoron ruled that Trump had been submitting inaccurate financial reports over the years, exaggerating the value of his properties and assets to secure favorable terms from lenders. Due to the delay in the financial guarantee payment on Monday, James’ office was unable to initiate the process of seizing Trump’s properties.

Murdock reiterated his suggestions from an article in the American Spectator that Trump should take legal action against James for comments she made in 2018 during her campaign for New York state attorney general, as reported by Newsweek.
