President Donald J. Trump has announced plans to host a full-scale UFC championship fight on the White House lawn next year as part of the historic America250 celebration.
The announcement came during Trump’s rousing speech at the Iowa State Fairgrounds on the eve of Independence Day.
“Does anybody watch UFC? The great Dana White?” Trump asked the crowd.
“We’re going to have a UFC fight — on the grounds of the White House. We have a lot of land there.”Trump emphasized that UFC President Dana White, a close friend and longtime supporter, would lead the effort.
“We’re going to build a little — well, Dana is going to do it,” Trump said. “Dana is great, one of a kind. It’s going to be a UFC fight — championship fight — full fight. Like 20,000 to 25,000 people. And we’re going to do that as part of ‘250’ also.”
