President Donald Trump indicated on Friday that a possible agreement between his administration and Harvard University could be announced within the coming week.
The statement comes after ongoing disputes between the Trump administration and the Ivy League institution over diversity programs and concerns about antisemitism on campus.
Trump commended Harvard for cooperating during discussions aimed at resolving what he described as “largescale improprieties.”
The president has taken steps to revoke federal funding from Harvard, citing its diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives and what he sees as inadequate action against antisemitism.
Tensions escalated earlier in June when Trump moved to restrict the enrollment of foreign students at Harvard.
The administration also began reviewing visa policies for international students as part of broader reforms, per the Daily Wire.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump said, “Many people have been asking what is going on with Harvard University and their largescale improprieties that we have been addressing, looking for a solution.”
He continued, “We have been working closely with Harvard, and it is very possible that a Deal will be announced over the next week or so.”
Trump also praised the university’s conduct during negotiations, stating, “They have acted extremely appropriately during
