President Donald Trump told mourners that one of Charlie Kirk’s final requests was to “save Chicago.”
Trump said Kirk, an Illinois native, asked him personally to focus on the city’s crime crisis.

“Please sir, save Chicago,” Trump quoted Kirk as saying in their last conversation.
Trump vowed his administration would “do that” and “save Chicago.”
He reiterated recent pledges to deploy National Guard units if necessary.
Trump framed the promise as part of honoring Kirk’s legacy.
He said the appeal reflected Kirk’s love for his home state.

“We owe Charlie a profound and eternal debt of gratitude,” Trump said.
He called Kirk a champion of “freedom and justice” who spoke truth boldly.
Trump said Kirk “lived bravely,” “argued brilliantly,” and “did what was right.”
He told the family that “no words can fill the void” left behind.
Trump said “America loved Charlie Kirk” as much as Kirk loved America.
