President Donald Trump has nominated former Fox News host Tammy Bruce to serve as deputy representative to the United Nations. Bruce currently serves as spokesperson for the State Department and will step into the new position pending Senate confirmation.
She will serve under Mike Waltz, Trump’s former national security advisor, who awaits confirmation to become the U.S. ambassador to the U.N.
Trump’s Praise for Bruce
In a post on Truth Social, Trump called Bruce a “Great Patriot, Television Personality, and Bestselling Author,” adding that she “did a fantastic job” as State Department spokesperson and would “represent our Country brilliantly at the United Nations.”
Bruce, 62, joined the administration earlier this year and is known for her assertive approach in press briefings, often challenging reporters’ lines of questioning. Before her government service, she was a nationally syndicated conservative radio host and Fox News contributor.
Career Background
A former Democratic activist and past president of the Los Angeles chapter of the National Organization for Women, Bruce publicly shifted to the conservative movement during the Tea Party era. She became a prominent media voice defending Trump administration policies.
