President Donald Trump has signed a directive ordering the Pentagon to launch military operations against Latin American drug cartels officially designated as foreign terrorist organizations by his administration, according to The New York Times.
The order gives the U.S. military legal authority to conduct anti-cartel missions in foreign countries, with plans already being drafted to target specific groups.

Under Trump, the U.S. has formally labeled seven Mexican drug cartels and two international gangs as terrorist entities:
