Trump Faces Widely Controversial Pardon Demand – EVOL

Attorney Alan Dershowitz has urged President Donald Trump to grant clemency to Ghislaine Maxwell, suggesting she was treated unfairly in connection with Jeffrey Epstein’s sex trafficking crimes.

Dershowitz, who previously represented both Trump and Epstein, argued Maxwell was used as a scapegoat after Epstein’s death.

While speaking to the Daily Mail, Dershowitz said Maxwell’s 20-year sentence should be commuted immediately and possibly followed by a full pardon.

He described her punishment as “excessive” and claimed she had been victimized by the justice system.

His statements follow Trump’s unexpected pardons of reality TV personalities Todd and Julie Chrisley, who had been convicted of bank fraud and tax evasion in 2022. The couple’s release sparked renewed speculation about additional pardons.

Dershowitz pointed out that Maxwell, currently incarcerated in Florida, might attract Trump’s attention due to their past social connections. A source close to the Maxwell family said asking Trump for a pardon is a possibility given his familiarity with her.

The 86-year-old former Harvard professor said Maxwell’s punishment far exceeded her alleged role, adding that she became the focus only because Epstein died before trial. He said clemency would be appropriate under these circumstances.
