Several prominent Republicans have publicly declared their support for President Donald Trump as he faces a political prosecution in his New York “hush money” case.
On Monday, jury selection began in the first of four criminal trials, the Huffington Post reported.
Those who are on his shortlist for Trump’s vice president have especially remained loyal.
The trial began this week in New York as Trump faces 34 counts of falsifying business records over alleged payments to adult star Stormy Daniels.
Trump is accused of paying Daniels, real name Stephanie Clifford, to keep quiet about an alleged affair ahead of the 2016 presidential election.
Democrat prosecutors claim Trump made the payments and then failed to disclose it as a campaign expense.
However, there is no evidence of any such affair or that Trump made any so-called “hush money” payments.
Both Trump and Daniels have denied any affair even took place.
Trump has rightly identified this trial as an effort to keep him from winning another White House term in 2024.
He pleaded not guilty and says he committed no wrongdoing.
