Supreme Court Allows Trump to Dismantle Department of Education – EVOL

President Donald Trump scored a major legal and political victory on Monday, as the U.S. Supreme Court ruled 6–3 to allow his administration to move forward with dismantling the Department of Education — a long-time promise to return control of schools to states, parents, and local communities.

The high court’s decision overturns a lower court ruling that had blocked the administration from laying off Department of Education staff and reassigning responsibilities to the states. The ruling paves the way for Education Secretary Linda McMahon to begin implementing Trump’s bold reform plan immediately.

Trump’s Order: Power Back to the People

In March, President Trump signed an executive order to begin dismantling the Department of Education, calling it a bloated, unaccountable bureaucracy.

“We’ve got to get the federal government out of education,” Trump declared at the time. “The Department of Education has become a bloated bureaucracy that’s more interested in pushing its own agenda than in helping our kids learn. It’s time to put the power back in the hands of parents, teachers, and local communities.”
