Secret Service Briefed on Threat to Trump 10 Days Before Butler Assassination Attempt – EVOL

A bombshell report from the Government Accountability Office (GAO) has exposed stunning failures by the U.S. Secret Service in the lead-up to the attempted assassination of then-candidate Donald Trump at a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, on July 13, 2024.

Classified Threat Ignored

According to the report, commissioned by Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-IA), Secret Service leadership was briefed on a classified threat against Trump’s life 10 days before the Butler rally. That warning was not shared with Trump’s protective detail, local law enforcement, or partner agencies.

“The Secret Service’s failure on July 13 was the culmination of years of mismanagement,” Grassley said. “Americans should be grateful that President Trump survived that day.”

Trump’s Security Requests Were Denied

Trump’s campaign had repeatedly asked for enhanced security measures, but those requests were rejected by Biden administration officials. Resources were instead allocated to First Lady Jill Biden and former Vice President Kamala Harris.

At the Butler rally, 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks opened fire from a rooftop. A bullet grazed Trump’s ear, and rallygoer Corey Comperatore was killed. Two other attendees were seriously wounded.
