Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani was hospitalized Saturday night after a car accident in New Hampshire left him with a fractured vertebrae and multiple injuries, his spokesman confirmed Sunday.
Giuliani, 81, was driving a rental car when it was struck from behind at high speed, according to spokesman Michael Ragusa.
The impact left Giuliani with cuts, bruises, and injuries to his left arm and lower leg in addition to the fractured vertebrae.

Ragusa said Giuliani had just assisted a woman who flagged him down as a victim of domestic violence.
“Mayor Giuliani rendered assistance and contacted 911, remaining on scene until responding officers arrived to ensure her safety,” Ragusa said.
The accident occurred after Giuliani re-entered his vehicle.
Despite the serious injuries, Giuliani is said to be in good spirits.
“The mayor is in great spirits. He’s a beast. He survived 9/11,” Ragusa said. Giuliani is expected to remain in a Manchester-area hospital for two or three days before being fitted with a brace for his fractured vertebrae.
