Republican Doubles Down on MAGA Betrayal – EVOL

Congressman Kevin Kiley (R-CA) continues pushing for legislation that would halt redistricting efforts across the nation, even as his own political future hangs in the balance.

Gov. Gavin Newsom announced plans to eliminate five Republican-controlled districts in California, putting Kiley’s seat directly in jeopardy. 

The move comes as the Golden State already ranks among the most heavily gerrymandered in the country.

Resist the Mainstream previously reported that Kiley introduced federal legislation earlier this month designed to prevent states from redrawing congressional boundaries before the 2030 census. 

His bill emerged amid ongoing Republican redistricting initiatives across multiple states.

Texas Republicans advanced plans to create five additional districts that Donald Trump carried by double-digit margins in the previous election. 

The Lone Star State moves forward after House Democrats concluded what Republicans characterized as an illegal blockade by returning to participate in legislative proceedings.

Multiple Republican-controlled states are pursuing similar redistricting strategies. 

Missouri, Ohio, Indiana and Florida are all considering or actively planning map changes that could benefit conservative candidates.

Republican leaders justify these redistricting efforts by pointing to extreme gerrymandering in Democratic strongholds.
