Rep. Shri Thanedar (D-Mich.) introduced seven articles of impeachment against President Donald Trump on Monday, marking the first formal Democratic attempt this year to oust the president or a member of his administration — although it’s unlikely to be the last.
The move comes as the Democratic Party’s most outspoken critics of Trump sharpen their strategies. Rep. Al Green (D-Texas), recently censured for disrupting Trump’s address to Congress, has also indicated plans to introduce his own impeachment articles.
Meanwhile, Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) has reportedly floated the idea of impeaching top administration officials, including Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, National Security Advisor Mike Waltz, and Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard, over the burgeoning “Signalgate” scandal.

In a statement, Thanedar — who faced the announcement of a second primary challenger earlier Monday — called Trump “unfit to serve as President and [a] clear and present danger to our nation’s Constitution and our democracy.”
“We cannot wait for more damage to be done. Congress must act,” he said.
