President-elect Trump asks the Supreme Court not to ban TikTok yet… – EVOL

President-elect Trump has just made a petition to the Supreme Court this evening to not ban TikTok.

Or put a better way, he wants the high court to put a pause on the law that Congress passed to ban the social media platform if it didn’t get sold to an American company in order to give him time, as president, to find a better resolution to the future of the platform.

President-elect Donald Trump asked the US Supreme Court to pause a law that would ban the TikTok social media platform on Jan. 19 if it isn’t sold by its Chinese parent company.

Trump said the court should give him time after his Jan. 20 inauguration to “pursue a political resolution” of the dispute. He didn’t take a position on the constitutionality of the disputed law, which Congress enacted on a bipartisan basis earlier this year.

It will be interesting to see what President Trump can do with this situation should the Supreme Court agree to his proposal. My guess is, however, that they won’t because the law passed Congress and if they deem it constitutional, then it’s really out
