While speaking with MSNBC, former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) attempted to deflect from a bombshell video in which she can be seen taking responsibility for security failures on January 6, 2021.
The footage, which was released by the Committee on House Administration’s Subcommittee on Oversight for Chairman Barry Loudermilk (R-GA), featured Pelosi in a candid discussion with aids during the protests. Pelosi acknowledged her role in the lack of preparation that left police shorthanded despite expectations of a massive crowd and intelligence suggesting disruptions were possible. “We have responsibility, Terry. We did not have any accountability for what was going on there, and we should have,” Pelosi is heard saying in the video.
While speaking with MSNBC’s Nicolle Wallace, Pelosi attempted to downplay the bombshell video by pushing blame on former President Donald Trump and the Republican Party. “Why do you think this is stirred up and a brouhaha on the right and in some corners of the media today?” Wallace asked.
