Former Attorney General under Barack Obama Eric Holder claimed on Twitter/X that Republicans “don’t give a damn about American democracy.”
His claim came after an article was share which dove into voter registration legislation proposed by Republicans in North Carolina.
“They just never give up. They don’t give a damn about American democracy.”
This was in response to NDRC’s claim:
“North Carolina Republicans are advancing a new voting restriction bill ahead of the 2024 election, targeting everything from mail-in ballots to poll observer conduct. Their basis for the bill? Unfounded claims of widespread voter fraud.”

The legislation would among many other things, eliminate a 3 day grace period for mail in ballots. The elimination of the grace period has many Democrats furious, Holder included.
Many of the Republican legislators have worked towards making elections more secure.
The legislation is headed to the desk of North Carolina’s Democrat governor’s desk where it is anticipated to be vetoed. This may not be the death of the changes as the legislature could vote to override the veto,
