Michelle Obama made a pointed remark about her husband, Barack Obama, during a recent episode of her podcast, IMO, which she co-hosts with her brother, Craig Robinson.
The former first lady said she was “so glad” she and Barack never had a son, suggesting a boy would have turned out just like his father.
The comment came up during a conversation about parenting boys with radio host Angie Martinez. Michelle, 61, shared her views on how boys should be raised, emphasizing strength and responsibility.
“People say mothers raise their girls and love their sons,” Michelle said. “And I’d say love your son, but raise him too—raise him to be as strong as you know he’s going to have to be.”
As she continued, Martinez joked that Michelle should have added a boy to the family.
Michelle quickly replied, “I’m so glad I didn’t have a boy.” When Martinez asked why not, Michelle responded, “Because he would’ve been a Barack Obama.”
Martinez laughed and suggested a “baby Barack” would have been amazing, but Michelle doubled down, saying, “Oh no, I would’ve felt for him,” per the Daily Mail.
