In a stunning twist of irony, the people of Mexico City are now protesting the influx of American immigrants, blaming them for rising housing costs, “stealing homes,” and “imposing their culture.”
On July 4th — while Americans celebrated Independence Day — hundreds of Mexican demonstrators flooded the streets, accusing U.S. expats of ruining their neighborhoods.
“Speak Spanish or get out of here!” one protester yelled — a line many Americans may recognize from border debates inside the U.S.

Americans Now the “Invaders” in Mexico
Since 2020, wealthy Americans — many of them fleeing blue-state chaos — have moved south of the border seeking lower living costs and a higher quality of life.
Thanks to Mexico’s generous immigration policy, Americans can stay up to 180 days without a visa, fueling a real estate boom in areas like Condesa and Roma, the same neighborhoods that have now become hotbeds of anti-American rage.
Ironically, millions of Mexicans have crossed into the U.S. — both legally and illegally — over the last few decades, prompting demands for border security and immigration reform.
