Mandisa’s Sudden Death at 47 Blamed on ‘Obesity’ – EVOL

“American Idol” star Mandisa died suddenly of “natural causes” that were blamed on “obesity,” according to the autopsy report.

The 47-year-old died from “complications of class III obesity,” her autopsy report states.

However, the report didn’t reveal details of those “complications.”

According to the Cleveland Clinic, class III obesity can lead to the development of several serious health conditions, such as Type 2 diabetes and heart disease.

Class III obesity is a disease in which a person “has a body mass index (BMI) of 40 or higher or a BMI of 35 or higher and is experiencing obesity-related health conditions,” the clinic notes.

The Grammy Award-winning music star was found dead in her home by friends at age 47 on April 18, as Slay News reported at the time.

The autopsy report, which was obtained by People, listed her manner of death as natural.

The late musician was best known for landing in the Top 10 when she appeared on Season 5 of “American Idol,” placing ninth.

At the time, she cited Def Leppard and Whitney Houston among her influences.

She released her debut album, “True Beauty,” in 2007.

Her 2013 record, “Overcomer,” won the Best Contemporary Christian Music Album
