The FBI has arrested a man they believe was organizing and supplying free face shields to anti-ICE rioters in Los Angeles (LA).
Alejandro Theodoro Orellana was taken into custody Thursday morning and now faces a federal charge of conspiracy to commit civil disorder, according to U.S. Attorney for the Central District of California Bill Essayli.
Essayli made the announcement via social media, stating, “We are moving quickly to identify and arrest those involved in organizing and/or supporting civil disorder in Los Angeles.” Authorities believe Orellana was instrumental in equipping rioters with personal protective equipment (PPE), including face shields intended to prevent identification and protect against police countermeasures.
According to federal investigators, Orellana allegedly drove a truck loaded with “Bionic Shield” face shields, which were handed out to rioters as violence unfolded across downtown Los Angeles.
Footage obtained by FOX11 News shows a group of protesters rushing the vehicle to grab shields and bottled water—items considered essential gear for protesters anticipating clashes with law enforcement.
