LIVE UPDATES: Plane crashes into houses in Philadelphia, multiple casualties reported

Authorities have launched an investigation after a small plane crashed in Northeast Philadelphia on Friday evening, resulting in multiple casualties.

The incident occurred just after 6 p.m. near the intersection of Cottman Avenue and Roosevelt Boulevard. According to initial reports, the aircraft may have struck several buildings and vehicles before going down.

Emergency responders rushed to the scene as officials worked to assess the extent of the damage and injuries. Details on the number of victims and their conditions have not yet been released.

The plane was reportedly an air ambulance according to users on social media.
