Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) sounded as bellicose as ever on Monday night and urged President Donald Trump to help facilitate regime change in Iran.
Last week, Israel conducted a series of bombings across Iran, killing military officials and nuclear scientists. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu justified the attacks by claiming Iran is trying to build nuclear weapons, which Israel has but does not officially acknowledge. Iran says its nuclear program is for civilian purposes only. In response, Iran fired off missiles of its own, some of which the U.S. intercepted. The volleys continued through Monday, when Trump left a G7 summit in Canada early after warning the 10 million residents of Tehran to “immediately evacuate.”
Graham appeared on Monday’s Hannity on Fox News, where he made the case for helping Israel take out Iran’s nuclear facilities and regime change.
“Be all in, President Trump, in helping Israel eliminate the nuclear threat,” Graham said. “If we need to provide bombs to Israel, provide bombs. If we need to fly planes with Israel, do joint operations. But here’s the bigger question. Wouldn’t the world be better off if the ayatollahs went away and were replaced by something better? Wouldn’t Iran be better off?”
