Former Vice President Kamala Harris’ ex-lover, Willie Brown, is expressing doubt about her possible aspirations to become the next governor of California.
In a recent interview, Brown, who served as mayor of San Francisco from 1996-2004, said Harris would not be a good “fit” as governor.
“I do think people running for public office really ought to fit eventually where they are trying to land at. And I really do, hope, frankly, that [Harris] comes to that reality,” Brown said, referring to Harris’ political future.
Brown argued that Harris’s political expertise does not align much with that of being an executive but rather a top legal job, such as serving on the Supreme Court or as attorney general.
The ex-San Francisco mayor said it would be “difficult” for Harris to be elected governor.
“She may not want to run for governor of the state of California,” he said. “That may not be where she should be going. I think it’s going to be difficult for her to win that job.”
Brown pointed out that there are multiple “quality” officials eyeing the governor’s mansion in California.
“There’s just so many really talented people thinking about that job,” he said.
