Justice Jackson Hit With Rare Rebuke From Liberal Colleague in Latest Court Ruling – EVOL

Supreme Court Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson is facing mounting scrutiny, not just from conservatives on the bench but now from a surprising source: her liberal colleagues.

In a notable split among the Court’s left-leaning justices, Justice Sonia Sotomayor publicly broke ranks with Jackson following a high-stakes decision involving the Trump administration’s proposed federal agency restructuring. 

The Court ruled Tuesday to grant a stay of a lower court’s decision that had blocked the Trump-era plan for sweeping layoffs and reorganization. 

Jackson was the lone dissenter in the 8–1 vote, as Resist the Mainstream reported earlier.

In a forceful dissent, Jackson described the Court’s decision as a dangerous overreach, claiming it amounted to a “structural overhaul that usurps Congress’s policymaking prerogatives,” according to BizPac Review.

She warned that the Court had rushed to interfere without fully understanding the consequences for federal workers and agencies, and she questioned the legal foundation of the executive order behind the plan.

Sotomayor, typically aligned with Jackson on progressive issues, nevertheless declined to support her colleague’s hardline stance. 

While agreeing that the executive cannot unilaterally override congressional authority, Sotomayor argued that the case was not yet ripe for that kind of determination.
