MSNBC host Joy Reid recently deleted her X account, explaining her departure in a TikTok video as a response to the platform’s “abuse and negativity.”
Reid, known for her political commentary and presence on social media, shared that she had been considering this move for some time. “Today I did something I’ve been meaning to do for a while,” she stated in the video, which showed her account deactivated.
Reid noted that her decision to leave X (formerly known as Twitter), where she had nearly 1.9 million followers, was influenced by the platform’s current ownership and her growing discomfort with its environment.
“The reason for doing it, and saying goodbye to my followers over there, is because I hadn’t been posting for a long time,” she explained. “I just didn’t want to contribute content once it was purchased by its present owner.”
