Hunter Biden, son of President Joe Biden, has taken a new role as director of development for BASTA Inc., a Los Angeles-based nonprofit organization focused on eviction defense.
The move comes as reports indicate that Hunter Biden is facing millions of dollars in legal debt following several high-profile court cases and ongoing investigations.
In an interview released Tuesday with journalist Andrew Callaghan, Hunter discussed his work with BASTA and emphasized the organization’s role in providing legal representation to vulnerable tenants, including illegal immigrants.
The interview marked one of Hunter’s few public appearances following his conviction and presidential pardon.
“There’s such an opportunity to be of service right now and not in … some kind of melodramatic, you know, way,” Hunter said during the interview.
“A lot of people that are getting the shit beat out of them out there right here in LA, and there’s an enormous opportunity for just normal people to do kind of heroic things, whether it’s protecting somebody that’s about to get kidnapped off a street.”
BASTA Inc. was co-founded by Bryan Sullivan, who serves as the nonprofit’s chief financial officer.
Sullivan previously represented Hunter Biden in several defamation lawsuits, all of which failed in court.
