Hunter Biden, son of President Joe Biden, will face indictment in California.
New federal charges against Hunter Biden are scheduled to be brought on Thursday, according to two persons familiar with the situation.
The allegations brought by special counsel David Weiss were not immediately disclosed, but one source indicated they are tax-related.
The White House declined to comment on the president’s son’s allegations, referring news outlets to Hunter Biden’s personal attorneys as well as the Justice Department.
Additional charges would be a significant move in the FBI probe that has sparked House Republicans’ concern.
Following the failure of a plea deal, Hunter Biden pleaded not guilty to federal tax charges in July. In August, a federal court dismissed the misdemeanor accusations. Biden was supposed to plead guilty to two federal misdemeanor counts of failing to pay taxes.
Hunter Biden was indicted on federal firearms charges in September in connection with the president’s son having a pistol while taking narcotics. Two of the allegations state that when Biden purchased a gun, he filled out a form stating that he was not using illegal narcotics. Another count claims he was in possession of a handgun while under the influence of a
