Vice President Kamala Harris issued a statement on Sunday condemning the suspected assassination attempt of former President Donald Trump. The Democratic nominee for president claimed she is “deeply disturbed” by the attempt on Trump’s life and condemned political violence.
“I am deeply disturbed by the possible assassination attempt of former President Trump today,” Harris said in the statement. “As we gather the facts, I will be clear: I condemn political violence. We all must do our part to ensure that this incident does not lead to more violence.”
The statement from the vice president came later in the day after it was confirmed that Secret Service agents fired at a person with a rifle with a scope near where the former president was golfing in West Palm Beach, Florida, on Sunday. The FBI declared the incident an assassination attempt.
“The FBI has responded to West Palm Beach Florida and is investigating what appears to be an attempted assassination of former President Trump,” a statement released by the FBI said.
