U.S. Rep. Eli Crane (R-AZ) — who served as a Navy SEAL sniper prior to his time in Congress — told conservative political commentator Benny Johnson that the possibility of the Secret Service being infiltrated by a “mole” cannot be discounted.
Several questions remain unanswered following the second attempt on former President Donald Trump’s life in just over 60 days. Ryan Routh, 58, was apprehended after a Secret Service advance team spotted his sniper’s nest outside the former president’s West Palm Beach golf course.
The former president’s round of golf was not listed on his public schedule at the time of the incident. Questions also remain surrounding Routh’s plan, as investigators do not currently believe the Hawaii resident had any familiarity with the course layout or the Palm Beach area.
