The special grand jury in Fulton County, that indicted President Donald Trump and 18 others, also recommended charges against Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) and two former Georgia GOP senators.
Former Sens. David Perdue (R-GA) and Kelly Loeffler (R-GA) were both targetted along with Graham.
These recommended charges were reviewed in the special counsel grand jury report which was released today.
The grand jury also recommended charges against attorney Cleta Mitchell, Michael Flynn, Lin Wood, and Boris Epshteyn.
Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis did not charge the lawmakers or the others when she returned an indictment last month.
Thirteen grand jurors voted to recommend indicting Graham, while seven voted no and one abstained.
They voted 17-4 to recommend indicting Perdue and 14-6 for Loeffler.
Legal scholar Jonathan Turley weighed in on the revelations from the report.
Turley described the recommendations as “chilling.”
“The final report for Special Purpose Grand Jury is chilling in recommendations to indict Sen. Graham and former senators Purdue and Loeffler as well as others who engaged in clearly protected political speech,” Turley said.
