President Donald Trump created a somewhat awkward moment during a live Fox & Friends interview Tuesday morning when he repeatedly praised the romantic relationship between host Ainsley Earhardt and Fox News star Sean Hannity.
The president called into the morning show from Washington, DC, where he was joined by hosts Earhardt, Lawrence B. Jones and Charles Hurt.
What began as a routine presidential interview quickly took an unexpected turn when Trump decided to highlight the couple’s five-year relationship.
Trump used his federal takeover of Washington, DC as a launching point for discussing the Fox News romance.
The president began by touting improvements to the nation’s capital since taking office.
“I’ve made Washington, DC, a- just an incredible place in four days,” Trump stated during the live broadcast.
He continued by describing how friends had told him about the bustling restaurant scene in the city.
The president then shifted his focus to the romantic couple, referencing Hannity’s ability to take his girlfriend to dinner in the revitalized capital.
Trump noted that Earhardt was sitting directly next to him during the interview, causing the host to smile, laugh and roll her eyes at the unexpected attention.
Trump appeared concerned about maintaining transparency
