For the First Time in U.S History, a Speaker of the House of Representatives Has Been Removed

For the first time in history, a Speaker of the House of Representatives has been removed from power.

8 Republicans joined with Democrats to remove Kevin McCarthy as Speaker.

8 Republicans and all Democrats present voted to oust McCarthy after 269 days as speaker.

The 8 Republicans are Buck, Biggs, Burchett, Crane, Gaetz, Good, Mace, and Rosendale.

“The office of Speaker of the House of the House of Representatives is hereby declared vacant” in a 216-210 vote.

Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) who led the charge to remove Kevin said, “I have no desire to be speaker of the house.

“He has risen to power by collecting special interest money and redistributing that money in exchange for favors.

“We are breaking the fever and we should elect a speaker who is better.”

“The office of Speaker of the House of the House of Representatives is hereby declared vacant.”

For the first time in history, the House has voted, 216-210, to remove its Speaker.
