Evacuation orders are in place for areas in Altadena and Pasadena after a fast-moving brush fire broke out at 6:23 p.m. Tuesday. It quickly burned more than 400 acres near Eaton Canyon in Altadena as firefighting resources were stretched thin on a night that’s expected to see the worst of the Santa Ana-fueled windstorm.
According to authorities, the fire started near Altadena Drive and Midwick Drive, and quickly grew.
Pasadena Unified School District has announced that schools will be closed on Wednesday, Jan. 8, due to winds and fire.
All Arcadia Unified Schools will be closed tomorrow as well. The district will have an update tomorrow by 3 p.m. in regard to the rest of the week.

All residents living north of Sierra Madre, east of Allen and west of Santa Anita Drive are under an evacuation order.
Mandatory evacuations are also in place north of New York Drive, east of Altadena Drive, and west of Sierra Madre Villa
