Former Georgia Lt. Gov. Geoff Duncan has formally joined the Democratic Party, declaring in an op-ed Tuesday that his political shift has been “coming for a while” — and doubling down on his past attacks against President Donald Trump and the Republican base.
Duncan, who had already been expelled from the Georgia GOP for endorsing Vice President Kamala Harris during the 2024 election, revealed his new party affiliation in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
“There’s no date on a calendar… but it has,” Duncan wrote, claiming his “political heart changed” as he struggled to “love [his] neighbor” as a Republican.
Slams GOP on Guns, Immigration, and Welfare
Duncan used his announcement to attack Republicans on a range of issues:

Criticized President Trump’s immigration policies, calling them “a lesson on how not to love your neighbor.”
