The remaining files related to the 1963 assassination of President John F. Kennedy have been released.
The Department of Justice (DOJ), under President Donald Trump’s administration, published the documents following an emergency review ordered by the DOJ’s National Security Division.
According to reports, the review involved processing between 400 and 500 documents per lawyer in a rushed effort to comply with Trump’s announcement that the files would be made public. These records, previously withheld for classification reasons, are now accessible to the public.
Details of the Release
The newly released files are now available on the DOJ Archives page, as confirmed in an official statement:
“In accordance with President Donald Trump’s directive of March 17, 2025, all records previously withheld for classification that are part of the President John F. Kennedy Assassination Records Collection are released.”
The release follows Executive Order 14176, issued by Trump, directing full transparency regarding the assassination records. The National Archives worked with multiple federal agencies to ensure compliance with the order and make the documents available to the public.
