Titled “21 Years Later, Deported Back to a ‘Home’ He Never Knew,” the piece paints a sympathetic view of Nascimento Blair, 44, who was deported back to his home country of Jamaica back in February. Blair was captured by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents back in February, who had been living in the country illegally for more than two decades after overstaying a temporary visa.

A judge ordered his removal in 2008 after he was sentenced to 15 years in prison in 2006 for kidnapping a neighbor he claimed had stolen marijuana from him. Blair continued to live in the United States without action from the Biden Administration after he was released from prison in 2020.

The article, written by Luis Ferre-Sadurni, claimed that Blair was “rebuilding his life and seeking redemption” before he was detained by ICE and deported back to his home country.
