Democratic Lawmaker Asks Republicans To Drop Support For Trump

Maryland Congressman Jamie Raskin isn’t a big fan of President Trump. He spent four years railing against the 45th President and has been trying to prevent him from running for office again.

A few weeks ago, he compared a second Trump term to “Vladimir Putin’s Russia.”

From the Guardian:

“The role of the government in his view is to advance his political fortunes and destroy his … enemies,” Raskin said of the former president and reality television show host. “So what would a second term look like?

“It would look a lot like Vladimir Putin’s Russia. It would look a lot like Viktor Orbán in Hungary – illiberal democracy, meaning democracy without rights or liberties or respect for the due process system, the rule of law.”

On Friday, he was back at it again and tried to use the expulsion of George Santos from Congress as an opportunity to convince Trump’s allies to drop him ahead of the presidential election.
