Delta jet engine caught fire at Orlando airport – EVOL

A Delta Air Lines jet caught fire on a runway at Orlando International Airport on Monday, prompting an emergency evacuation using onboard slides, according to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).

The incident occurred as the Airbus A330 was preparing for departure to Atlanta. CBS News reported that the plane was pushing back from the gate when one of its engines suddenly ignited, sending flames visible from the aircraft’s tailpipe.

Fortunately, there were no injuries reported among the passengers or crew. A spokesperson for the Orlando airport confirmed that “the fire was contained and is out.”

Delta Air Lines released a statement shortly after the incident, confirming the aircraft was carrying 282 passengers, 10 flight attendants, and two pilots at the time. The airline said its flight crew followed protocol and swiftly evacuated the plane once the fire was observed.

“We appreciate our customers’ cooperation and apologize for the experience,” the airline stated. “Nothing is more important than safety, and Delta teams will work to get our customers to their final destinations as soon as possible.”
