Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton was criticized as a “big-time loser” after leading Democratic opposition to President Donald Trump’s announcement that the federal government would take control of policing in Washington, D.C.
Trump held a raucous White House press conference on Monday announcing that the D.C. Metropolitan Police Department would be placed under federal control.
He also said hundreds of National Guard troops would be deployed to the city’s streets to “rescue our nation’s capital from crime, bloodshed, bedlam and squalor and worse.”
Clinton, who lost the 2016 presidential election to Trump, condemned the move.
“As you listen to an unhinged Trump try to justify deploying the National Guard in DC, here’s reality: Violent crime in DC is at a 30-year low,” she said.
She referenced statistics from the Department of Justice released in January under the Biden administration, which were announced by the District’s Democratic attorney general.
White House Deputy Press Secretary Abigail Jackson quickly responded on social media, calling Clinton “a big-time loser” and “a massive liar.”
Jackson also pointed to a July news report that Resist the Mainstream has covered about Metropolitan Police Department Commander Michael Puliam, who was suspended over allegations of falsifying crime data.
