Dr. Ben Carson is beloved by many….and for good reason.
By all accounts simply a great man with a kind soul.
He was also one of the first of the 17 Republican challengers in 2016 to drop out and wholeheartedly endorse President Trump.
Known for being a brilliant surgeon, many thought he might have been nominated to chair the Dept. of Health & Human Services or as Surgeon General, but he didn’t do either of those in 2016.
Instead, you might recall that Dr. Ben Carson served as the Secretary of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) during President Donald Trump’s first administration. He held this position from March 2, 2017, to January 20, 2021. As HUD Secretary, Dr. Carson focused on issues such as affordable housing, public housing reforms, and policies aimed at reducing homelessness. His tenure also included initiatives to promote economic opportunity in distressed communities through programs like Opportunity Zones.
He of course did a great job.
But many were wondering if this time around he’d nab the Surgeon General role.
Turns out it’s not happening this time either.
