On Thursday evening, GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump announced that, if re-elected, his administration would require companies receiving federal housing subsidies to verify the citizenship or residency status of individuals seeking to rent housing.
“When I return to the White House, we will require all companies receiving federal housing subsidies to verify citizenship,” Trump stated. “We’re going to ensure legal residency, and as a condition of rental agreements, they’re going to have to verify it. Taxpayers will not subsidize apartment rentals for illegal aliens, and we will not allow illegals to drive up costs for Americans in need.”
