President Joe Biden has claimed that he is “not confident” that there will be a peaceful transition of power should Kamala Harris win and Donald Trump loses the general election in November. In an interview with CBS News’ Robert Costa, which will air in its entirety this weekend, Biden attempted to claim that Trump has called for violence if he does not win a second term in office.
“If Trump loses, I’m not confident at all,” Biden said when asked if he is confident about a peaceful transfer of power.
“He means what he says… all this stuff about if we lose there will be a bloodbath,” the president added.
Biden’s reference to Trump mentioning a “bloodbath” has been a frequent point of contention. Biden has repeatedly cited this as evidence that Trump has called for violence in the event of his defeat. However, this interpretation has been debunked. When Trump originally made these comments, he was referring to an economic “bloodbath” that he believed would negatively impact American industries, such as car manufacturers, if he were to lose the election.
