An intense exchange unfolded during a congressional hearing when U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi sharply responded to Rep. Madeleine Dean’s (D-PA) remarks on competence.
The confrontation quickly escalated as Bondi directly called out Dean for her previous praise of former President Joe Biden, turning the spotlight on the ongoing political tensions between the two parties.
The hearing, which focused on policy disagreements and legislative priorities, took a heated turn when Dean questioned Bondi’s capabilities.
However, Bondi was ready with a pointed rebuttal that caught many by surprise.
She highlighted Dean’s earlier comments on PBS, where the Pennsylvania Democrat had described Biden as competent—a statement she later retracted.
Bondi didn’t hold back in her response.
“You want to talk about incompetence? You’re the one that said Joe Biden, on PBS, was competent! You had to retract those words, so don’t talk to me, don’t insult me publicly,” she said, her voice firm and unwavering.
Dean, a senior Democrat with years of experience, pushed back but appeared rattled by Bondi’s sharp words.
“This is so discourteous,” Dean said. “This is so outside the committee’s guidelines.”
“Taking a personal shot at me while swiping at Biden? Very strange and very unprofessional of you.”
